Stephen A. Berkovits

Associate

Stephen Berkovits was born and raised in South Florida. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 2001. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the Nova Southeastern University College of Law in 2004. During law school, Stephen worked on the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law and the NSU International Citator and Research Guide Project. He also wrote an article on the legal issues involved with placing a professional sports team in Nevada, which was later published by the Gaming Law Review.

 

Stephen concentrates his practice on bodily injury liability coverage issues, property damage liability coverage issues, uninsured motorist (UM) coverage issues, and other automobile insurance matters. Stephen counsels insurance carriers and insureds on their duties and obligations pertaining to claims handling and coverage issues. On behalf of insurance carriers, Stephen actively pursues declaratory actions on coverage disputes in state and federal courts. In addition, Stephen handles probate and guardianship cases, related to the settlement of wrongful death claims and minors’ bodily injury claims.

 

Stephen is admitted to practice law in Florida, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is a member of the Broward County Bar Association and the Dade County Bar Association.

 

Stephen resides in Miami with his wife and two school-age children.
